The n-3He Experiment at SNS : Commissioning

1) The upstream beam profile is measured with the XY scanner. |

A theodolite is aligned to cross hairs, positioned at the beam centroid upsteam and downstream from analysis of the beam scans. |

A fluxgate magnetometer is aligned along the beam axis with a V-block and used to shim the B-field parallel to the beam. |

The B-field is mapped along the beamline and shimmed for uniformity. |

The target chamber is aligned to the beam axis using an autocollimator attachment to the theodolite. |

The RF spin rotator is tuned using a polarized 3He spin filter. |

The transverse asymmetry is measured using the NPDGamma coils for the B-field. Finally, PV physics data is taken using the solenoid for longitudinal polarization. |
